June brings with it a number of fun writerly things for our guild and the surrounding area.
- First is the June Drink ‘N Scrawl to be held from 4-6 p.m. June 18 at the Mellow Mushroom on Airport Boulevard. (The Oakleigh Drink N Scrawl has been moved to July.) This is an opportunity to socialize with other area writers and soak up the atmosphere–and hopefully kick-start your muse or help you break through writers’ block.
- The first board meeting of the 2011-2012 officers will be held tonight (May 31). We have a number of items on the agenda, but would love to hear members’ questions and concerns. Please e-mail them to [email protected].
- It’s been a few years since the Mobile Writers Guild updated its logo, so we’ll be presenting you with a few options on which to vote. Look for a poll on this blog in the near future.
- At this year’s Mobicon, Carrie Cox and Stephanie Lawton had a chance to talk with the president of the Baldwin Writers Group, Steven Moore. He is extending a special offer to members of the MWG on their “Write Tight” Writers Workshop, set for 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 11 in Giddens Auditorium at Faulkner State College in Fairhope, AL. Registration is
$50$20 and includes a box lunch. If the MWG gets together 10 people who would like to attend, he will give us 5 free registrations. Put another way, if 15 people sign up, it will knock the price down to$33.33$13.33 each. (I’m a writer, check my math!)
Know of another great writing event in the area? Send the information to [email protected] and we’ll make sure to get the word out.
Looking forward to the drink & scrawl!
Peace&Love!
